The debut of Rapinoe in the FIFA Women's World Cup took place in. Her contributions contributed to in helping the U.S. team win consecutive Women's World Cup championships in 2015 and in 2019. In 2018, she was appointed cocaptain. Rapinoe's two goals were the result of a 4-3 United States victory against Australia during the Olympics of 2020 in Tokyo.
